OVERVIEW

18 CPD hours of professional development for health practitioners

This workshop is recommended for practitioners who have completed previous training in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

The workshop provides learning opportunities to explore some of the following:

  1. The role of guided discovery in CFT

  2. Developing an insight into different forms of formulation especially those rooted in safety strategies and behaviours

  3. Building compassion competencies including the Compassionate Self

  4. Explaining and exploring multi-self in relation to emotion and emotional conflict such as the interaction between threat-based emotions such as anger, anxiety and sadness.

  5. Compassion and difficult emotions

  6. Functional analysis and engagement with self-criticism

  7. Compassion and the Critic

  8. Using method acting techniques

  9. Using chair-work techniques

  10. Engaging with shame material

Workshop Objectives:

To enable participants to practice:

  1. CFT forms of guided discovery

  2. The different types of Formulation i) motivation based ii) functional emotions based iii) safety strategies

  3. Working with emotional conflicts in relation to compassion

  4. Working with self-criticism in a number of different ways

  5. Working with shame and resistances

  6. Personal practices
